Meet the team

Grahame Mizen

M.I.D.T.A. professionally qualified teacher.
Co-owner & co-founder of Apton Dance Studio.

Grahame Mizen co-founded Apton Dance Studio in 1986. Throughout the years he has seen dance crazes such as Disco, Line Dancing, Salsa and now ‘Strictly’. Even though he believes Ballroom and Latin are the core to most Dance Schools (if only because he’s too old to dance BOKWA!) he is always keen and eager to experiment with other, newer and fun styles.

Maxine Stock

A.I.D.T.A. professionally qualified teacher and winner of John Dilworth Scholarship 2004.
Co-owner of Apton Dance Studio. Maxine has been with Apton for 20 years.

Maxine has been dancing at Apton Dance Studio since the age of 7. She has gone from a pupil, to assistant, to teacher and to manager – and now is one of the two directors. Maxine is always keen to take on a challenge and to introduce new dance classes such as the latest fitness craze, BOKWA, adult Rock ’n’ Roll classes and school clubs. She is determined to see Apton go from strength to strength over the next 25 years, so watch this space!

Lydia Bindley

A.I.D.T.A. professionally qualified teacher as well as a qualified nursery nurse.

Lydia has been a part of Apton for 21 years. Even though she is now a part time mum/part time nursery worker, she is still a committed member of the team and
teaches once a week as well as running the monthly practice nights.

Jenna Kenneally

Student teacher.

Jenna started dancing with Apton when she was 11 years old. Even though she is a fully qualified beautician and has a 9-5pm office job, Jenna teaches and assists in 2 class nights a week. She is also available to teach private lessons and is often at our annual functions, so I’m sure you’ll meet her soon!

Sammi Woollard

A.I.D.T.A. professionally qualified teacher.
Sammi has been with Apton for 15 years.

Sammi has been with Apton for 15 years now. In that time, she has somehow also found the time to graduate from university, get a Masters degree and work as an Assistant Stage Manager in London! She still loves working at Apton though and so helps to cover classes when needed in Hertford and Bishop’s Stortford.

The Rest of the Team

Supplementing our professional staff is a team of assistants, who not only help with the running of the classes, but partner individuals in lessons. Even though they are currently either in full time education or jobs, they love dancing and attend the regular functions we hold throughout the year.
